Welcome to Richards Outdoor Photography & Art! We are a family of published photographers who love the Lord and His beautiful creation. We are truly thankful for the wild places, wild animals, and wonderful friends we have met on our outdoor photography journey over the years. As great a gift as the world of nature is, it is not God's greatest gift to mankind. His greatest gift came through His love and grace through His Son Jesus Christ. Our hope is that our images bring joy to others and give God glory for His wondrous creation. We appreciate your interest in our work and hope that we can provide the right image for your home, office, or cabin.

Dave Richards
Dave began his outdoor career path in 1985 after earning a marketing degree at Southeastern Louisiana University. He is a manufacturers rep with H&G Marketing for many leading companies in the hunting and outdoor industry and has won numerous awards including Rep of the Year for both Leupold optics and Nosler bullets. An Eagle Scout, he grew up in Texas and Louisiana in a family of five boys where hunting, fishing, and camping, were important parts of his life. He began photographing his outdoor adventures and the wildlife he encountered and by college was selling images to a local frame shop. Since those early years he has traveled from Alaska to Africa pursuing captivating images of wildlife from bears to cape buffalo. However, his favorite subject to photograph is mature whitetails. Over the years his images have graced the covers and pages of numerous outdoor publications including Sports Afield, Petersen's Hunting, Southern Outdoors, Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine, and numerous Texas hunting magazines. His work has also appeared in Boone & Crockett's "Complete Guide to Hunting Whitetails", as well as other books and various advertising campaigns. In 2002, he asked noted wildlife biologist Al Brothers to co-author his book "Observing & Evaluating Whitetails." Al heartily agreed as he believed this book would help deer hunters and managers become more proficient at aging, judging, and analyzing deer so they could manage their herds at a higher level. It was published a year later through the Quality Deer Management Association. Contained among the books 435 stunning color images are many impressive bucks Dave photographed over multiple years providing a comprehensive overview of how to age and score white-tailed deer through physical characteristics and behavior. A technique Dave learned from the Roy Hindes family and countless hours photographing and observing whitetails in the wild. Observing & Evaluating Whitetails is used by wildlife educators, hunter ed instructors, guide schools, land- owners, ranch managers, hunters, and wildlife biologists fulfilling the original hopes of Dave, Al, and the Hindes family. Dave's sons have been at his side in the field since they were toddlers and share his love and enthusiasm for the outdoors and photography. He realized early on that both James and Joseph have their own unique approach and creative styles in how they photograph their wildlife encounters and experiences afield. It's a dream come true to be able to show- case their work as well as his wife's artwork for others to enjoy God's great outdoors. Today, Dave enjoys sharing about the grace and love of Christ, his appreciation for God's amazing creation, and lessons learned from wildlife. He especially enjoys the story of God's goodness revealed in how God had a plan that became Observing & Evaluating Whitetails that would impact his life and many others. |
